Discover Douglasville Historic Downtown Audio Tour
An election was held on the first Saturday in March 1875 and thus began the official story of Douglasville. Today, Douglasville is one of the most diverse, historic parts of the Atlanta metro area.
No matter how long you have lived in Douglasville or how many times you’ve visited, you probably have not heard all its historic stories. Discover the evolution of Douglasville by joining us on our interactive, self-guided audio tour of five buildings in our historic downtown. The Discover Douglasville Audio Tour will lead you through the city’s past and present, highlighting historic buildings, landmarks, and stories that define Douglasville’s unique sense of place. Whether you are a local or a visitor to Douglasville, the audio tour will provide you with new perspectives and a new appreciation for the city many call home.
This self-guided tour will take you through the core area of Douglasville’s historic downtown that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This historic district now contains both commercial and residential areas dating from the mid-19th century, primarily oriented along Main Street and running parallel to the railroad corridor; an outstanding example of a turn-of-the-century southern railroad town.
When you have completed the self-guided tour and have eaten at a participating restaurant, stop by the Welcome Center with your receipt to complete the challenge for a collector’s prize.
